Surrey Heath Volunteer Awards 2016
The Surrey Heath Volunteer Awards and Christmas networking event was held on 6th December at the Camberley Theatre. We were delighted that over 100 people attended this event and most of those present were volunteers. The purpose of this event is to celebrate, thank and recognise the amazing contribution to the community made by the many volunteers who work for voluntary organisations in Surrey Heath.
Our guest speaker was Dr Rachel Darroch, Clinical Director of Programmes at Surrey Heath Clinical Commissioning Group who gave an update on the plans for integrated care in Surrey Heath in 2017. Dr Darroch also gave a brief outline of the Frimley Sustainability & Transformation Plan which aims to deliver services in a more straightforward way.
The Worshipful, the Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor John Winterton presented the awards to the winners of each category and congratulated everyone who had been nominated for an award, including:

Voluntary Contribution to Older People’s Services Award:
Tessa Kiely for her work with Surrey Heath Age Concern
Environmental Volunteer Award:
David Kimber for his work with the National Trust
Young Volunteer Award:
Phoenix Govey-Gray for her work with Camberley Judo Club
Leadership in the Community:
Irene Bothomley for her work with the Macmillan Cancer Trust
Best Volunteer Team Award:

Voluntary Support North Surrey Special Recognition Award:
A raffle was drawn after the presentation of the awards for all the volunteers who were nominated as an additional recognition of thanks. You can see the prizes that were donated here and we should like to thank all those businesses for their generous support.
