Past Projects

Our previous projects have made a significant impact on strengthening and supporting communities across Surrey.  Through initiatives like the Time to Change Project and the Amigo Project, we’ve helped increase youth involvement in volunteering and provided vital support to those recovering from mental health challenges. These projects reflect our ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and organizations across Surrey, fostering growth, confidence, and positive change within the community.

Time to Change Project (2021 - 2023)

The Time to Change project run for two successful years between April 2021 and September 2023. This Surrey-wide project, led by Voluntary Support North Surrey and in collaboration with other Council of Voluntary Services (CVSs) in Surrey, aimed to increase the number of 19-25-year-olds volunteering across the county. We can confidently say that this goal was achieved through supporting voluntary organisations to build up the knowledge, skills, and confidence in recruiting and managing volunteers.

Over the course of the two years, the project worked closely with 40 core organisations and supported dozens more. These organisations benefitted from one-to-one support, skills transfer via our monthly training sessions, direct engagement and our Young Ambassador insight.

As a result, the Time to Change project helped voluntary organisations in Surrey recruit over 100 young volunteers, aged 19-25. Across the project’s core organisations, there was an 84% increase in the number of young people volunteering. You can find out more by clicking the button below to read our Impact Report.

The Amigo Project (2017 - 2021)

The Amigo Project was set up in April 2017 and was funded by Surrey-wide charity Catalyst. Catalyst works to promote the mental health and wellbeing of people in Surrey, improving lives in terms of stability and wellbeing, with the aim of reducing harm to themselves, their families and the community.

The project was delivered by Voluntary Support North Surrey and matched volunteers with people who required support to move forward of recovery from mental health issues. They helped them make connections with local community activities while helping them boost their confidence and increase motivation.

Our completed projects have made a lasting impact on communities across Surrey, supporting youth volunteering and mental health recovery.
