Friday Club is a place where adults with disabilities and mental health needs come, belong and get creative, run by Prospero Theatre.

Across the year our members develop a script, rehearse and make the props, costume and set, before presenting their work near Christmas time. It's an incredibly feel-good time, with the opportunity to socialise, share a meal together and have fun.

We try to reduce a sense of 'us' and 'them' between those serving and the service users and many of our volunteers have their own experiences of disability or mental health challenges.

In order for the group to thrive, it helps if we can have committed volunteers who are willing to get stuck in and have a good time!

Our members are split into two groups, with one half doing drama and the other half doing art, swapping over half way through the day.

We've been blessed with volunteer artists of all levels - you don't have to be the next Picasso to help out.

Although you will be volunteering with those who have disabilities, members who require personal assistance are joined by their carers, meaning no 'care' duties required.

The sorts of thing you will be helping out with is:

*Chatting to members during art, breaks and lunchtime

*Supporting members to make props/set for the next show

*Painting, drawing, cutting, gluing

*Helping the team make sure everyone has their drink/meal at lunchtime

*Sharing a meal together

*Feeding into a debrief at the end of the day

Volunteering takes place at The Arc, Weston Drive in Caterham. This is an ongoing opportunity so please do get in touch whenever you see us! We have lots more ways to get involved too.
