SSAFA the Armed Forces Charity
Caseworker / visitors to help ex-Servicemen and women and their families in times of need. Some are retired, some disabled, some lonely, some newly discharged from the Forces. All need help - they want to be independent, mobile and socially included.
You will be visiting them in their own homes to establish their needs and to determine their eligibility for help, you will then contact the statutory authorities and/or local and Service charities as appropriate.
Personal satisfaction of being a SSAFA volunteer is very high.
Casework is sporadic and very varied and can easily be combined with other interests/activities.
This opportunity may involve a DBS check.
A mature approach, common sense, initiative, determination, discretion and ability to work with people.
Use of own car desirable.
Forces background not essential.
Part of being a SSAFA volunteer is also being part of a team and SSAFA volunteers are fully supported by their organisation.
