Walton Stroke Group aim to benefit Stroke Recoverers and their Carers with a programme of social activities, therapies and friendship.

The social group which meets on Mondays at Walton Centre for the Community gives stroke recoverers the opportunity to share experiences and receive recovering support from our team of volunteers.

We are seeking a new Chair person who has a passion to help a small charity-based team. We are looking for a Chair to join us in our small but longstanding local charity, which was set up to provide FUN for Stroke recoverers.

Previous Charing experience is not necessary and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds. On the job training will be available if required. If you have some free time and want to put it to good use why not contact us?

We meet weekly at the Walton Centre from 10.00 to 1pm on a Monday morning : we have activities and subsidised physiotherapy, but also enjoy each other’s company and support – and have a laugh!

We organise an annual holiday and the Chairperson will apply for the Elmbridge Annual Grant each year and for other grants from time to time.

The Chair person also does a small amount of admin making the annual return to the Charity Commission. Could this be you?

If you are interested, please come along to one of our meetings and find out more, we would love to see you.

We welcome any new ideas and innovation on how we can go forward in improving our services at the Walton Stroke Group.

As well as being an active part of the process, the Chair person will also be involved in taking away tasks such as buy raffle prizes, arrange the Woking Strokeability boat trip; deliver Christmas chocolates; attend events like the Stroke Club Conference and to ensure agreed implementations happen.

If you wish to join us, you will receive full training and support from our friendly team including with understanding the needs of Stroke recoverers.
