Spelthorne Mental Health Association (SP)
Volunteers are needed to work part-time in Spelthorne Mental Health Association's charity shop, known as Charity at Home.
This is the oldest charity shop in Ashford and is at the 'cheap and cheerful' end of the range, taking goods that other charity shops decline and providing a necessary service to local people as well as raising money for the mental health day centre.
The shop is open from 10am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and volunteers are welcome to work half a day, a day or several days, according to what suits them. Volunteers who can work for any time periods during Monday to Saturday 10am to 3pm, preferably on a regular and predictable basis, are also welcome.
Rotas may change to fit the availability of staff - at present there is a particular shortage on Saturdays, but that might change.
Volunteers may sort donations, arrange goods for display, man the till, assist customers or keep the place tidy.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal. There is limited parking behind the shop
Volunteers are required to be reliable, honest and have an ability to get on with people. No specific qualifications are required. Knowledge of pricing clothes and other goods would be a very desirable bonus - we have a visiting valuer for jewellery and small items but not for clothes etc.
