Growing Redhill is a community gardening group for Redhill and the surrounding area, which is run by a volunteer Committee of Management. 

The objectives of The Community Gardening Group, which will operate within the geographic boundary of Redhill and surrounding areas, are as follows:

  • To promote the gardening interests of our members
  • To pass on gardening knowledge
  • To use wildlife-friendly methods of gardening
  • To enable individuals and groups, for example, schools in the local community, to participate in gardening activities.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to help us to carry out practical gardening tasks with local community groups.

Food clubs: Growing on the windowsill.

Church projects: Getting growing on their veg plots or creating a community garden. 

Growing with the Brownies and Guides.

Stalls at local fairs:  talking about our work and a bit of fundraising.

Bulb planting @ Memorial Park

We are recruiting gardening volunteers for the following projects:

Reigate Train Station: creating colorful planters and flowerbeds on the station. Fortnightly sessions on a Sunday afternoons while getting started and then monthly thereafter.  Tuesday evenings for watering during the summer.

St Katharine's Church in Merstham:  Creating a Community Garden within their grounds and wildlife areas for the community to enjoy within their grounds.  Dates and times can be flexible depending on the availability of volunteers.

Merstham Station: Maintaining our present work on the station and creating a community area at the station        

What skills do I need?

  • Practical gardening skills that you want to share with others.
  • Able to work as part of a small team of volunteers.

    13+ Volunteers aged 13-16 need to come along with a parent/guardian.

Availability Details

The group is small and work can be fitted around your schedule as part of a small volunteer team. It is most likely to take place during weekends & evenings in daylight. Sessions can be arranged on Mondays and Fridays as well.
