Purpose of the role.(Female only)
To support women affected by domestic abuse who are required to attend court hearings.  This could include civil and criminal hearings, covering things such as Injunctions, Child Contact, Divorce or appearing as a witness in the criminal trial of their Perpetrator.

What skills do I need?

  • Understanding of the emotional effects of domestic abuse.
  • Accompany women on public transport, as necessary to the court hearing.
  • To allow sufficient time to ensure, where possible, that the client arrives at the court in good time.
  • To be able provide emotional help and support to the client
  • To be able to consider the safety of the client and yourself at all times
  • To be able to be your client’s “eyes and ears” (see overleaf for fuller information)
  • To be able to remain calm in what is often a very emotional situation
  • To be able to uphold the values of NSDAS and our commitment to providing a needs led service with equality of access to all.
  • To be able to report any Safeguarding Children/Adults issues in line with NSDAS Policy to the relevant named contact.
  • To be able to uphold the Confidentiality Policy of NSDAS at all times.
  • To be able to ensure you are familiar with NSDAS Policies & Procedures – if you need further copies of Policies etc. Please speak to the Services Manager.
