Fundraising Group Member Camberley (SH)

We want to continue to make Macmillan one of the best known local charities in the Camberley and Surrey Heath area and that is why we are looking for volunteers to help boost our fundraising network. By joining our group, you will be making a big difference to Macmillan and ultimately to the lives of people affected by cancer.

Macmillan aims to improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing medical, emotional, financial and practical support. We also campaign and push for better cancer care. We are a source of support, helping with all things that people affected by cancer want and need. It is not only patients that live with cancer, so we also help carers, families and communities. We guide people through the system supporting them every step of the way. We fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals. We build cancer care centres. We also give so much more than medical help.

People need practical support at home, so we provide anything from some precious free time off for a carer, a lift to the hospital. People need emotional support so we listen, advise and share information through our cancer support specialists, website and trained professionals. People need financial help to cope with extra costs cancer can bring, so we give benefits advice and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Together we listen, we learn, we act to help people live with cancer.

What skills do I need?

Ideally you should be able to demonstrate:-

Good communication skills.

Strong organisational skills.

Numeracy and bookkeeping skills.

Honesty and reliability.

An ability to be a team player.

Passion and enthusiasm.
