Help Us Help Families – Fundraising Volunteer Needed at Home-Start Surrey Heath
Are you organised, motivated, and passionate about supporting families? Join Home-Start Surrey Heath as a Fundraising Volunteer and play a crucial role in helping us secure the funding we need to continue providing vital services to local families with young children.
Home-Start Surrey Heath is part of a network of Home-Start schemes across Surrey, working in partnership to provide home-visiting support to families under stress. This is a rewarding volunteer role that will allow you to make a real difference behind the scenes, helping generate income from grant-making bodies, statutory agencies, and charitable trusts.
This role is flexible and can be carried out on a part-time basis, largely from home with occasional in-person meetings. You’ll be working closely with the Scheme Manager and the Board of Trustees.
What you’ll do:
Compile and maintain a portfolio of existing and potential funders and donors
Research funding opportunities, including eligibility criteria and application deadlines
Plan, complete and submit compelling grant applications and funding bids
Support the organisation with tenders and funding contracts
Build and maintain relationships with funders, including statutory bodies and charitable foundations
Develop and help deliver a long-term fundraising strategy
Keep accurate records of all applications, outcomes and correspondence (both digital and paper-based)
Report outcomes and funding progress to the scheme manager and trustees
Liaise with the fundraising committee and promote/support community fundraising events
You’ll help ensure we have the resources we need to deliver life-changing services to families when they need it most.
This role would suit someone with some experience in fundraising or bid writing, though full support will be available. It’s ideal for someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented and interested in the charity sector.
You’ll develop or make use of:
Strong written communication and persuasive writing for applications and proposals
Research and analytical skills – identifying suitable grants and tracking application cycles
Planning and organisation – keeping track of multiple bids and deadlines
Relationship building – communicating with funders and supporters
Teamwork – collaborating with the Scheme Manager, Trustees, and fundraising committee
Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding policies
Flexibility – ability to work independently and manage your own time
