Once a month, could you offer a child or young person up to 18 years old, fun activities and one-to-one time?
Surrey Independent Visitor Service needs adult volunteers aged over 21 to visit and befriend children in care who are living in Surrey, or beyond.
You get: Enjoyment from spending time with a child; immense personal satisfaction; initial and ongoing training; support and back up from the Independent Visitor Service; reimbursement of agreed expenses.
You give:
- One visit per month, usually at the weekend
- A commitment of at least two years once matched with a child
- Your energy and time to a young person
- Your participation in independent visitor support groups and training
- Your agreement to an enhanced criminal record check (DBS), personal references and other relevant checks.
If you think this could be you, we are inviting you to attend an Online Open Evening where you will find out more about the role and how to apply. These will be held online on Wednesday 2nd April or Wednesday 9th April, from 7pm - 8.30pm.
If you can’t make these dates, please do still get in touch!
To become an Independent Visitor you will need to complete our recruitment process which includes, attending two full days of training on Saturday 26th April and Saturday 10th May 2025, in Reigate in Surrey.
But we need to recruit volunteers all over Surrey, and in the surrounding areas, so please don't let the training location put you off if it isn't local to you. If you can’t make the training days do still get in touch, we are hopefully running further training in the Autumn of 2025.
