General information:

The group is a community venture to support wellbeing through nature connection for parents and their little ones (for 2 - 4 year olds).

We are running the sessions weekly on a Friday morning from 10.00 - 12.00.

Activities and invitations are planned to promote child led play, creativity and investigation outside in nature. These will include planting, nature art, play in the mud kitchen, digging and bug hunting, stories and songs.

How can volunteers help us?:

  • Welcome parents and help check them in with our register
  • Lead a planting session; small pots and seeds at a child's level
  • Support toddler play in the mud kitchen; get creative and make mud muffins or mud soup!
  • Look for invertebrates in a small digging area with support to handle a worm or ladybird
  • Helping with teas and coffees; a hot drink is so appreciated by parents of toddlers
  • Helping to tidy away or setting up.

Who may enjoy this?

  • Volunteers who enjoy being with children or out in nature
  • Volunteers who enjoy gardening
  • Volunteers who might enjoy reading a story to children or joining in with a story.

What volunteers need to know:

  • Parents are required to supervise their own children
  • Volunteers and leaders support child led play with a few suggested activities as a starting point
  • Play is the key point and child led play is the aim
  • Activities are planned ahead but are an invitation to the children and outcomes are not prescribed
  • Ideas and suggestions of activities are welcome from the volunteers
  • Any accidents need to be reported for the accident form
  • Please don't take any photos on your phone of children.
