Love Me Love My Mind is a small registered charity based in Epsom Surrey which aims to promote better understanding of mental health and to support the well-being of everyone in the community.

Role Purpose

To facilitate a weekly peer support group where individuals with shared experiences of mental health challenges can support one another. Unlike a clinical therapy group, your role is to guide the conversation, ensure a balanced dialogue, and maintain a safe, confidential "circle of trust" for all attendees.

Main Responsibilities

  • Facilitation: Open each session with a "check-in," manage the flow of conversation to ensure everyone has a chance to speak, and gently bring the group back to the topic if it drifts.
  • Creating Safety: Establish and uphold "Group Agreements" (e.g., confidentiality, non-judgment, and active listening).

  • Peer Support: Encourage members to share their own coping mechanisms and lived experiences rather than trying to give professional medical advice.
  • Resource Signposting: Stay informed about local Epsom mental health resources to help members who may need more intensive support than the group can provide.
  • Boundary Management: Maintain healthy professional boundaries with group members and identify when a participant’s needs may exceed the group's scope.

What skills do I need?

Skills & Experience

  • Active Listening: The ability to listen deeply without judgement.
  • Group Dynamics: Experience in managing varied personalities and ensuring no single voice dominates the room.
  • Empathy & Lived Experience: Personal experience with mental health challenges (either directly or as a carer) is valued, provided you are currently in a stable place to support others.
  • Resilience: The ability to hold space for difficult emotions while keeping the group focused on mutual support.

What We Offer

  • Support: Access to peer-supervision and regular check-ins with the LMLMM leadership team.
  • Experience: Build your CV with facilitator experience in a mental health setting.
  • Community: The chance to foster deep, meaningful connections and combat isolation within the Epsom community.
