Social Media Volunteer

Headway Surrey is a well-established local charity covering the whole of Surrey, supporting adults who have an acquired or traumatic brain injury and their families. 1 in 3 people during their lifetime in the UK will get a brain injury. This might be from a road traffic incident, a stroke, sporting accident, trip, fall, falling debris, work accident, combat, assault, domestic violence, meningitis, brain tumour, hypoxia, encephalitis, aneurysm, bleeds on the brain and many more issues. The charity needs to raise awareness on social media to the general public about its services, so that when someone needs help, they remember the name Headway Surrey and can seek help. In addition, the charity needs social media to advertise its London Marathon places, skydives, job vacancies, volunteer vacancies, trustee vacancies and encourage giving from all types of people, companies and groups. We have had a university student in this role for 2 years, but they are now moving onto full time work. They have benefited a great deal from working with the charity and their knowledge of brain injury and communication has improved enormously. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and self-motivated, who can think outside the box and help us improve our social media following. We need the person to commit for a minimum of one year and of course as it is social media, it can be done remotely. What skills do I need?

Experience or interest in social media management. Strong writing and communication skills. Basic graphic design or video editing skills (preferred). Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
