Queen Mary Sailability (SP)
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Queen Mary Sailability. We enable disabled adults and children to experience the relaxation of cruising and the excitement of racing in a safe sailing environment.
Being a volunteer with Queen Mary Sailability is a fun and fulfilling experience. Sailing experience is not a necessity as we have all manner of volunteer roles both on the water and on shore. We give a full induction into the support team followed by ongoing training and support.
The Sailability
season runs every THURSDAY from April to October (am and pm). We welcome anyone who wishes to help out on
our rota for all or part of a day.
On-Shore
Meet and greet our disabled sailors and their carers
Provide buoyancy aids and ensure correctly fitted
Keep a register of sailors and support team attending
Help with marketing, social media, fund-raising, event management
On-Water
Helm or crew our dinghies and keelboats (Hansa 303, Yeoman, Drascombe Longboat)
Drive our safety boat. RYA Powerboat Level 2 and First Aid Training provided
Run our fun but competitive dinghy races
Develop your own sailing skills in a variety of boats
Learn how to rig, de-rig and if interested to maintain and repair boats
