Time to Talk (VSNS)
Please consider volunteering for an hour each week for Time to Talk to help us tackle loneliness in Surrey Heath. We are recruiting a team of volunteer befrienders to assist the lonely by keeping people company. People can feel isolated for a number of reasons including ill health and life events such as, bereavement, moving house, having a baby, starting university or retiring.
As many as 18% of adults have expressed that they feel lonely often or always, and loneliness figures for all ages have risen in recent years.
Volunteers are well matched with people with similar interests.
Befriending has a valuable positive effect on lives. As a
volunteer you will not only brighten someone’s day, you will meet new people,
learn new skills and make a difference in your community. Befriending is a
flexible volunteering role which can fit around other commitments.
All you need to become a Time to Talk volunteer is an ability to listen, to be friendly and reliable. You will get full support to make your volunteer experience as enjoyable as possible.
