The Victoria Almshouses is a registered charity that has two sites, one in Reigate with 24 dwellings and one in Redhill with 10 bungalows.  The charity provides accommodation for elderly residents who have a close association with the Borough of Reigate & Banstead, who have a housing need and inadequate financial resources to house themselves.  Residents have to be able to live independently and are responsible for paying a Maintenance Contribution(MC) towards the costs of maintaining and repairing the properties.

The Charity is administered by a Board of Trustees (Governors) and two sub-committees responsible for Welfare and Fabric & Finance.  Meetings are held quarterly.

The Board is supported by a full time Manager who lives on site at Reigate and the Clerk, a part time role.

The Charity is seeking to strengthen its Board by supplementing the existing range of skills and experience.  In particular we are seeking volunteers to join the Board to serve on the Welfare Committee which is responsible for the general welfare of residents and the selection of new or potential residents.  Members support the Manager as required.  Members of the Committee ensure that concerns of individual residents are bought to the attention of the full bard or Fabric & Finance Committee as appropriate.

What skills do I need?

Good interpersonal skills able to communicate with a wide range of individuals.

Experience in the Social Care, Health Care or Housing Management sectors.

Working as part of a team providing pastoral support when required for residents.

Organizational skills to support the Manager.
