Kempton Great Engines Trust
Kempton Steam Museum relies entirely on volunteers to look after our unique collection and showcase it to thousands of visitors each year. We are always looking for new volunteers to ensure that the museum can continue to be looked after and enjoyed by all.
Being part of the volunteer team working to preserve, operate and develop this important heritage site is a rewarding and enjoyable experience. There is always much to be done and you don’t need to have an engineering background to volunteer with us. We need to manage the operation of the museum and constantly improve our exhibits, displays and facilities. Our historical equipment needs to be curated and preserved and we need to maintain the museum infrastructure. We also need people to help with the organisational, administrative and planning aspects of running a successful commercial operation.
On steaming weekends we need people to help out with the visitor experience, such as delivering guided tours and providing front desk and refreshments support. We also need people to operate the restored triple expansion engine and other display artefacts.
Whether you are volunteering to keep active, to meet new people or to learn new skills, Kempton Steam Museum is a great place to be. Our regular volunteering days are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, 10:00 till 16:00. There is no need to commit to any particular day or amount of time – we are just grateful for any time people can give.
We currently need more volunteers to help with:
We are looking for people who like dealing with the public by answering questions and providing guidance and support to our visitors.
