Volunteer Counsellors at Cancer Information & Support Centres at Epsom & St Helier (CSVA)

People affected by cancer (patients and carers) often benefit greatly from brief-focused counselling to help them find coping strategies to manage their situations. Counselling often enables them to achieve a better quality of life and can help to reduce the stress and anxiety caused by the diagnosis, treatment and side-effects of a cancer diagnosis.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust need qualified counsellors to work with people affected by cancer.

Their Cancer Information & Support Centres are located at both Epsom and St Helier Hospitals.

Counsellors see 3 clients each week for brief-focussed counselling.

Clinical supervision will be provided

What skills do I need?

Counsellors should have completed a course that provides membership to either the BACP or UKCP. 

Counsellors must have completed and passed the taught component of the course but may still be accruing the clinical hours required for accreditation and must have completed at least 100 supervised clinical placement hours.

Need to be able to commit 18 months - 2years
