Reengage
One Sunday afternoon a month volunteers use their car to take older members to and from a volunteer host\'s home for tea, cake and companionship. Monthly tea parties take place in a different location in and around Staines and Ashford each month. Volunteers are required as soon as possible. Drivers need to contact their elderly passengers a few days before the monthly gathering to make sure they know when they are going to be picked up. The drivers also need to let the group co-ordinator know how many people to expect so he/she can let the volunteer host know how many to cater for.
Drivers collect the same older guest each month and accompany them to a different local host's home where they all enjoy an afternoon tea party. There are usually three to five drivers in a group and there are sometimes also one or two reserve drivers to cover for holidays and emergencies.
We are particularly looking for drivers to take members to a regular tea party held in Egham.
A safe driver, good communication skills, enjoy the company of older people, friendly and outgoing. All you need is a full drivers license, a valid insurance and access to a car. As a driver we ask you to supply two references and we also take out a DBS check before you start as a volunteer. We ask our drivers to commit to three or four hours one Sunday a month.
