Energy Efficiency Cookery Course - The Hub Englefield Green

The Community Hub Cooking Club began in February 2012 at the request of local residents who wanted to learn how to cook tasty meals using fresh healthy and affordable ingredients. Its aim is to inspire a love for cooking, teaching safe cooking techniques and building confidence in the kitchen, a place where people of all ages can come together to build friendships around a common interest.

The Hub Englefield Green are holding a Energy Efficiency Cookery Course on three dates in May (I know this is short notice).

The course is being delivered by a professional chef (and former star of Ready Steady Cook!) who will be demonstrating the recipes at the front of class but they are looking for 1-2 culinary minded volunteers per session to assist in setting up and clearing down the cooking stations, and to assist any of the participants in a sort of ‘sous-chef’ capacity if they are struggling with the food prep in the lesson themselves (even if that just means clearing the counter in between tasks!)

It doesn’t need to be the same people for all three of the sessions. I think it will be a fun way to volunteer – and you get to learn some to create some tasty dishes at the same time.

Course Details:

The course will run over three sessions and you need to be available for all three to apply.

• Friday 16th May, 10:30am to 12:30pm

•Tuesday 20th May, 10:30am to 12:30pm

•Friday 23rd May, 10:30am to 12:30pm

What skills do I need?

The volunteer worker will be part of a team providing a Community Cooking Club for adults and children who live on the Estate and beyond.  As a team member the volunteer worker will assist the chef to set up cooking stations ready for the start of the session.
