About Us

The Epsom and Ewell Talking Newspaper (EETN) is a small, friendly charity dedicated to improving the lives of visually impaired people in our community. We provide a free fortnightly recorded news and magazine service for people who have difficulty reading text.

The EETN is run entirely by volunteers.

Our trustees meet regularly to ensure the smooth running of our charity and to make sure our listeners are receiving the best service we can provide. We are looking for a reliable and organised Volunteer Minutes Secretary to keep clear, accurate records of our meetings.

Role Overview

The Minutes Secretary plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the charity. You will attend trustee meetings (usually three to four times a year), take concise and accurate minutes, and circulate them to the trustees afterwards. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys organisation, clarity, and helping a team work effectively.

Key Responsibilities


• Attend trustee meetings at our office in Epsom

• Take clear, structured minutes capturing decisions, actions and key discussions

• Circulate draft minutes for approval

• Maintain an organised archive of past minutes

• Support the Chair with meeting administration where needed

What skills do I need?

• Strong written communication skills

• Good attention to detail

• Ability to summarise discussions clearly and neutrally

• Reliability and discretion

• Comfortable with basic digital tools (email, Word/Google Docs)

Availability Details

Time Commitment Approximately 2–3 hours per meeting, plus writing up minutes in your own time afterwards. Meetings are scheduled in advance, and normally held on a Thursday morning.
