Welcare in East Surrey – helping on the reception desk

Welcare in East Surrey, based at 24 Warwick Road Redhill is a charity that works with local families with children up to the age of 13. We are a busy and friendly centre and run a selection of weekly groups for families and their under 5s.

We are looking for a volunteer to sit at the reception desk (always next to a member of staff) to welcome people into the building, ensure they get to the right group or appointment, answer queries, answer the phone and direct as appropriate, undertake some light admin/computer tasks.

What skills do I need?

• To enjoy connecting with people and to be friendly and outgoing.
• To have a desire to help people.
• To be non-judgemental and treat everyone with respect.
• To be able to work on own initiative but also to know when to ask for help.
• To be comfortable with computer work
• Previous office experience might be useful but by no means essential.

(the office can get noisy at times with lots of children and families)
