What will you be doing?

Relate Mid and East Surrey has been serving the community for over 30 years, providing vital counselling and support services to young people, individuals, couples, and families. As a trusted local charity, we help people navigate challenges in their relationships, mental health, and personal well-being through accessible, compassionate, and professional support. Our team is dedicated to improving lives, building stronger connections, and creating a positive impact in our local communities.

About the role

We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Windows IT Support Volunteer to help us keep our small charity’s laptops running smoothly. You don’t need to be an expert, just confident using Windows laptops and happy to help with practical tasks like setting up new users, checking old devices to see if they’re still usable, and supporting us with occasional IT questions.

What you’ll do

Help us set up new users on Windows laptops (e.g. logins, email access, basic software)

Review our existing laptops and help us decide which are still in good condition

Assist with simple troubleshooting (e.g. Wi-Fi issues, slow performance, printer setup)

Offer guidance on cost-effective ways to improve or maintain our tech setup

Keep a record of our devices and their status, if possible

What you’ll get from us

A warm welcome and the chance to make a real difference to our team’s work

Flexibility to volunteer at times that work for you

Opportunities to expand your experience or learn new skills if you’d like

A reference if you need one

What are we looking for?

Confident using Windows laptops and basic software like Microsoft 365

Some IT experience (informal or formal – we’re flexible)

Able to explain things simply and patiently

Happy to volunteer your time on an occasional/flexible basis

A problem-solving mindset and willingness to get stuck in
