Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership are pleased to advertise a volunteering opportunity supporting our team of Youth Employment Advisors. We are seeking individuals who enjoy communicating, are adaptable, and can confidently engage with young adults in both one-to-one and group settings.

Volunteering opportunities are available at our Leatherhead, Redhill, and Guildford locations.

This is a voluntary position, with a preferred commitment of one morning or afternoon per week, between Monday and Thursday. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience within a charitable organisation and the public sector, working alongside experienced professionals from a range of backgrounds.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting the Youth Hub in helping young adults develop skills for employment and build confidence.

Assisting with CV and cover letter writing, mock interviews, and online job applications.

Contacting young adults to check on progress, sending appointment reminders, and liaising with partners and colleges on behalf of participants who would like referrals made.

For those interested in a marketing-focused role:

Designing engaging social media content to promote Youth Hub services and attract young adults.

Using Canva to create posts (events, top tips, polls, hub updates etc) and explore effective ways to engage young audiences online.

Supporting activity across platforms (currently Instagram being the main one).

Capturing photos and videos for promotional use, ensuring appropriate consent is obtained. 

What skills do I need?

A strong team player who is collaborative, encouraging, and supportive.

Ability to communicate in an engaging and approachable way with young people aged 18–24.

Competent IT skills, including use of smartphones and laptops.

For marketing roles, some personal or professional experience in social media is required; video editing skills are desirable but not essential.

Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Strong interpersonal and networking abilities.
