Engagement Manager, Voluntary Support

We are looking to appoint a Manager to join a small but dedicated team based in Chertsey.

You would have a key role in the strengthening and capacity building of local voluntary organisations primarily in Runnymede (but also Surrey Heath and Spelthorne) using businesses and partners to maximise support to the Voluntary Sector including planning and volunteering.

Position: Voluntary Support Manager

Location: Chertsey

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Duration: Full-time on a 2-year fixed term contract

Closing Date: 22nd June 2021

About the role:

As Engagement Manager you will be working with are an independent charity who support voluntary and community organisations, statutory agencies and the business community to be a voice, promote voluntary work, support charitable organisations and identify gaps in the provision of local services.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • To engage with local groups in order to maximise support.
  • To target voluntary organisations on the database, establish their needs and identify ways in which they can be supported.
  • To support with business plans
  • To develop and increase volunteering opportunities
  • To give fundraising advice and support
  • To help with good governance
  • Improve the communication process between the organisation and its volunteers

About you:

To be successful in the role of Engagement Manager you will have previous professional experience within a similar role, helping people with funding advice and business plans and strategy. You will also bring with you the following key skills and experience:

  • The confidence to speak publicly and present
  • The ability to evaluate, analyse and report succinctly
  • Be of positive disposition and self-motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to engage and connect with voluntary organisations and deliver training
  • A good understanding of IT office software including Microsoft Excel or equivalent and ideally Salesforce contact management system
  • A team player
  • Have a driving license and access to a car

A fantastic employee volunteer group from Salesforce started 2020 volunteering at Hersham Hounds. The dedicated charity helps retired greyhounds find their forever homes. At any one time they care for over 80 dogs and as they are self funding they rely on the generosity of their supporters

Enterprise Rent a Car Egham Angel Tree

The staff at Enterprise Rent a Car Egham as part of the Angle Tree Initiative donated over 340 gifts for individuals in need this Christmas. This included children, the elderly, families in poverty and the homeless. Their huge generosity makes a significant difference to those in our local community who find themselves vulnerable at Christmas time.

This Christmas employees at Compass in Chertsey donated 60 gifts for Traumatised Children in Foster Care and Dementia Support Carers as well as 75 flasks for the homeless. Their kind generosity helped to ensure the most vulnerable in our local community were not forgotten.

Sayes Court Group 2

ADP Chertsey Volunteer at Sayes Court Green Spaces

Sayes Court is overrun with an invasive plant species called Himalayan Balsam which needs to be pulled to control the population and give other plants the opportunity to grow.  The volunteer crew from ADP had lots of energy and managed to clear an area far in excess of that expected.  They just got stuck in despite the hot sun and nettles and managed to make a real difference to the area.

Enterprise Egham Volunteer at St Peters Hospital

St Peters Hospital relies on volunteers to help keep the hospital courtyards and grounds tidy and welcoming for patients and their visitors.  An enthusiastic team from Enterprise set about tidying the garden areas to make them look appealing to both staff and patients who are able to go outside and enjoy the green spaces.

Fisglobal Volunteer at Mane Chance

Mane Chance provide sanctuary and relief from suffering for horses, while promoting humane behaviour to all animals and mutually-beneficial relationships with people who need them.  The hard working team from Fisglobal cleared the area around the pond which would have taken them weeks to do.

Menzies Volunteer at Salvation Army Addlestone

The Salvation Army are a cornerstone of life in Addlestone  and offer a space for community groups of all ages to run activities. They rely on volunteers give the community hall a facelift so that it is always welcoming. A fantastic team from Menzies painted the facilities and spindles to brighten up the communal area.
