My Time runs youth clubs so that the young carers can have fun away from the stresses of home life and form peer friendships.  This year has been enormously challenging for our young carers, supporting an unwell parent or sibling, whilst losing the respite school and friends can offer for long periods. Our youth clubs are between 5.30 - 7pm or 7pm-8.30pm on either Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Our clubs are either in Ewell Village, Leatherhead or Dorking.

Could you spare a couple of evenings a month collecting a young carer and bringing them to our youth club.

Most, but not all drivers, stay at club and enjoy being part of the team of volunteers who provide fun activities, such as games, crafts and food.

What skills do I need?

A friendly and non-judgemental disposition is essential.  My Time volunteer drivers must understand confidentiality, as youngsters often chatter away whilst being taken to and from club sessions.

Experience of working with children is not necessary, but being able to listen and communicate well with young people is vital.

We require all drivers to be over 21, willing to be DBS checked, have a clean driving licence, car insurance and an MOT if your car requires one. Mileage used will be reimbursed so you are not out of pocket.
