We aim to change lives in Mid & East Surrey by offering a range of counselling services aiming to support people in times of difficulty and crisis. We offer five core services:

  • Relationship counselling
  • Young People’s counselling
  • Family counselling
  • Sex therapy
  • Mediation

All our services are subsidised however we will offer further bursaries or free sessions where finances are a barrier to seeking help. Our aim is to help everyone who needs our support regardless of their financial situation.

We are looking for a bank of volunteer receptionists to work in both our Epsom and Reigate centres. You will have a good telephone manner and be welcoming and sensitive to clients when they arrive at the centre. You will have a calm and sympathetic manner. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to give back through volunteering for a local charity. Perhaps you are thinking of returning to work and would like to gain some experience, or perhaps you are interested in a career in counselling and would like to see how we operate in the centre?

The Volunteer Receptionist role

The role will involve answering phone calls, welcoming clients to the centre when they arrive for their appointment and basic administrative tasks.

The main tasks are:

  • Welcoming clients
  • Answering the telephone
  • Taking messages from enquiries
  • Leaving handover notes to the rest of the secretarial team
  • Basic administrative tasks
  • Responsible for locking up the centre
  • (Please note that training will be provided).

What skills do I need?

You will need to have good communication and organisation skills.

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to gain new skills and gain invaluable work experience.
