Looking for a voluntary role you can really get your teeth into?  Interested in helping to shape a new organisation and set it up for long-term success?  Victory Park CIC is a new social enterprise that promises to be a real asset to the local community. Building on its success growing the existing Bowls Club - Bowls England Story of the Year Award winner, 2022 - to becoming an inclusive and accessible multi-activity community resource, you would be hosting activities and events for park users and all members of the wider community, improving park facilities including perhaps introducing park mini-golf.  We believe that by providing useful services like bowls for juniors, adults with Learning Difficulties bowls, a clubhouse café and free community get togethers and wellness walks, we can win grant fundraising awards, establish partnerships and gain sponsorships.

We are looking for an experienced volunteer who is keen to drive the strategic direction of the organisation – taking responsibility for leading commercial relationships playing a negotiating Commercial Director role, dealing with the council and sponsors, and setting the overall direction of the CIC together with existing volunteers and supporters. Part of a board of directors, the CEO will help to oversee recruitment of further directors and to determine what skills are needed. It promises to be a truly rewarding role within an established success story - a great opportunity for someone to use skills they have built through a career in business in a new and exciting environment. Initial commitment is expected to be 2 to 3 days per week.

What skills do I need?

  • A genuine interest in building a community resource and supporting the community
  • Creative thinker, self-starter and proactive
  • Team player with leadership skills, good manager of people
  • Experience of building commercial partnerships and revenue streams a bonus
  • Previous experience within a social enterprise preferred but not essential.  Understanding and belief in our social enterprise model is essential.
