About 444 Growing

444 Growing is a community-focused project supporting young people and adults to find respite and re-connection through nature and gardening. We provide a safe, welcoming green space where people can find peace, grow confidence, learn new skills, and improve mental health.

Role Purpose

As a volunteer, you will support the day-to-day running of the allotment, helping create a positive, safe, and engaging environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteers may take part in a variety of activities, including:

  • Gardening tasks such as planting, sowing seeds, watering, preparing and maintaining raised beds
  • General upkeep of the allotment (weeding, tidying)
  • Supporting simple building tasks (e.g. raised beds, structures)
  • Supporting group activities and interacting with service users where appropriate
  • Working collaboratively as part of a friendly team.

Requirements (where applicable)

Depending on the role and level of involvement:

  • DBS Check (required for volunteering with service users)
  • Safeguarding Training (desirable but not essential)
  • First Aid Training (desirable but not essential)

Volunteers helping on non-client days may not require a DBS check unless deemed necessary.

All volunteers, will receive an induction covering 444 Growing’s aims, policies and procedures.

  • Open to supporting vulnerable individuals where required
