About the Role

Good decisions depend on good information.

Voluntary Action Surrey East and Central Surrey Voluntary Action are looking for a Community Insight Volunteer for the East Surrey Community Insight Partnership (ESCIP), which brings together local voluntary organisations, communities and partners to better understand the experiences, strengths and challenges facing people across East Surrey.

As a Database & Intelligence Volunteer, you’ll help organise and maintain the information that sits behind this work. By keeping our community database accurate and up to date, you’ll help ensure local insight can be turned into meaningful intelligence that supports better decisions and stronger partnerships.

If you enjoy organising information, spotting detail and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes, this could be the perfect role.

What You’ll Do

You may:

  • Update and maintain stakeholder records within the ESCIN Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and Volunteer Plus.
  • Add new contacts, organisations and community groups to the database.
  • Record community insight gathered through engagement activities.
  • Check records for accuracy, duplicates and missing information.
  • Help organise contacts using agreed categories and tags.
  • Support the preparation of simple reports and mailing lists.
  • Help ensure information is stored securely and handled in line with GDPR.
  • Work alongside the ESCIN Coordinator to continually improve the quality of our community intelligence.

Training will be provided, and you won’t be expected to know the systems before you start.

What You’ll Gain

As an ESCIP volunteer you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Make a real contribution to improving local communities.
  • Gain practical experience using CRM and community intelligence systems.
  • Develop administration and data management skills.
  • Understand how community information influences local decision-making.
  • Build experience that is valuable for careers in administration, charities, public services or research.
  • Receive training, ongoing support and volunteer recognition.

Time Commitment

Flexible.

Typically, 3 -4 hours each week, arranged around your availability. Based in our Dorking or Oxted office.

Support

You’ll receive:

  • A full volunteer induction.
  • Training on the ESCIN CRM system.
  • GDPR and data protection training.
  • Regular supervision and support from the ESCIN Coordinator.
  • Opportunities to develop new digital and administrative skills.

Every accurate record helps build a clearer picture of our communities and supports better decisions for East Surrey.

  • Have good attention to detail.
