Dorking and District Talking Newspaper (CSVA)
The foundation of our work is keeping people with poor sight in touch with their community.
We help support this community by producing a fortnightly audio version of the local newspaper for visually impaired people in Mole Valley.
Editors select relevant items from the paper and assemble the cuttings into folders for the Readers and Recorder to turn into an audio recording later in the day.
The recordings are sent to our listeners on memory sticks or can be heard online via smart speaker.
Editors generally work in pairs – often in each other’s homes with a cuppa to hand.
There is a rota of four to six weeks between duties. The job itself usually takes about 2 hours.
We’re a friendly bunch and would be delighted to welcome you to this vital job.
No specific skills required, just the ability to select items that will be interesting to the listeners.

The Dorking Advertiser is issued on Thursday mornings. Editors usually convene to cut it up at a mutually convenient time in the morning or early afternoon. The whole job takes approximately 2 hours.
