Help in Recruiting and Supporting Volunteers

The Basingstoke Canal Society (The Society) needs your sales/marketing skills to help us plan and increase our membership.

The Society wants someone to become part of an active membership team. This is an interesting opportunity as you will be working with the marketing team and we welcome new ideas. 

Perhaps we are a victim of our own success as we now have over 260 volunteers! However it would be helpful now to have some extra support in helping recruit further volunteers and, on an ongoing basis, to help with the communicating and supporting existing volunteers. Accordingly if you have experience in working in HR or recruiting people and would like to get involved then please contact us to find out more.

The Society are the guardians of the canal which runs through Surrey and Hampshire.  It works alongside the councils’ managing authority and its overarching aim is to ‘keep the canal alive’ by:

• Promoting the future of the canal
• Protecting our environment
• Providing community leisure activities
• Preserving our heritage.

The canal is a vital local amenity with virtually its whole length designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It provides a great range of leisure activities, including boating, running, walking, cycling and angling.

What skills do I need?

A sales/marketing or an HR background, or experience of volunteering, would be an advantage.
