Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice (SH)
Hospice Home Support volunteers support patients and families with practical matters such as shopping and going out, as well as offering companionship in the patient’s own home.
Many of our patients and their families find managing their illness extremely challenging. Our aim is to alleviate the stress of patients by helping with practical side of life. This can be by taking patients shopping to helping around the home, or most importantly just sitting, listening and having a chat. Our volunteers can make everyday life more manageable for everyone. Other areas of support include helping to get to GP/hospital appointments, accompanying to shops/garden centres, taking patients on outings, and allowing care givers a few hours off for a well-earned break.
Applicants must be age 21 years or over.
