Do you want to volunteer but don't have enough time or are unable to commit to a long-term role?

Micro Volunteering is the answer – it’s a convenient and easy way to get involved as it can be done anytime, anywhere, with no commitment to repeat and with minimum formality.  Below are our Micro Volunteer opportunities:

  • Be My Eyes - help a blind or low-vision user with anything from checking expiry dates, distinguishing colours, reading instructions or navigating new surroundings.
  • Hedgehog Homes - Help hedgehogs when they go into hibernation by creating permanent structures in your garden for hedgehogs to make their homes.
  • Instant Wild – Help with the identification of animals in the wild via an app developed by The Zoological Society of London (ZSL). You can also help the ZSL by litter picking and counting fish in the River Thames!
  • Post Pals - Support Post Pals to Post a Smile on a Sick Child’s Face by the sending of cards, letters, emails and little gifts to seriously ill children and their siblings in the UK.
  • Walrus from Space - Support the WWF by becoming a 'walrus detective'. Help search for and count walrus by using satellite images taken from space.
  • Tarjimly - Volunteer as a remote translator and help refugees and immigrants with interpretation and translation so they can access vital information.
  • TED Talk - Support TED Talk by subtitling their videos to ensure their content is accessible to everyone across the world.
  • 2 Minute Foundation - Support 2 Minute Foundation by litter picking in your local area and share your findings on social media.
  • Freerice - Support the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) and play their educational trivia game. Every correct answer raises 10 grains of rice for the WFP.
  • Missing Maps - Help map areas where humanitarian organisations are trying to meet the needs of people who live at risk of disasters and crises.
  • Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - Create snuffle pads, puppy raggers or bunting to support the work that Hearing Dogs for Deaf People do.
  • The Smithsonian Museum - Help make historical documents and biodiverse data accessible by transcribing documents online.
  • United Nations - Help tackle sustainable development challenges by supporting organisations through a variety of assignments.
  • Cards for Bravery - Hand make cards for children and young people in hospital.
