Local Governors form part of our Local Governing Body (LGB), a committee of the OHCAT Board.

Our governors work collectively to:

  • Support strategic leadership by upholding the Trust’s vision and values.
  • Monitor educational standards, including pupil progress, safeguarding, and curriculum opportunities and quality.
  • Oversee operational and financial compliance, ensuring resources are used effectively and policies are followed.
  • Champion staff wellbeing and development, contributing to recruitment and supporting leadership.
  • Engage with the school community, acting as a bridge between the academy, parents, and wider stakeholders

What skills do I need?

There is no specific skill set for this role, we welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, however a commitment to enhancing the lives of pupils with Special Education Needs and Disabilities is a must!

Availability Details

Local Governors attend 3 meetings an academic year in the Autumn, Spring and Summer Terms and are then asked to visit the school on a termly basis. In addition, there may be some ad-hoc panel meetings that require governor support; however this is not a regular requirement.
