Downlands Partnership is pleased to welcome corporate employee volunteer teams for practical conservation volunteering sessions across NE Surrey and into neighbouring parts of Croydon and Sutton.

Key countryside sites in the Reigate & Banstead area are in: Banstead, Chipstead, Nork, Hooley and Merstham. We also work in Earslwood and Reigate in the June only.

We offer a wide range of enjoyable practical environmental volunteering tasks, helping us to manage, maintain and restore Surrey's glorious countryside: invasive species clearing/ragwort and balsam pulling (spring/summer): access improvements and species monitoring (spring/summer); scrub clearing and coppicing (autumn/winter). Ragwort pulling and scrub clearance are ideal tasks for groups and for those new to conservation volunteering.

Please refer to our Surrey Countryside Partnerships corporate volunteering brochure 2025-26, which fully outlines our offer and financial contribution rates. Up to 4 volunteers can usually join in FOC on a scheduled task session. Notably we will not be increasing our rates for 2026-27. Please also have a look at our Surrey Countryside Partnerships Facebook page to get a further feel for all our conservation volunteering sessions in action.

The best season for large groups to get involved in is during autumn/winter.

We provide tea/coffee, biscuits, all tools and all necessary training/guidance and you will be covered under our Surrey County Council insurance.  Volunteer teams will need to bring their own lunch, bottle of water and anything to sit on.

What skills do I need?

These task sessions are ideal as a one-off, annual or or regular activity, suitable for teams of any size and individuals and new corporate partnerships are always very welcome. Countryside volunteering with us greatly supports and helps meet corporate Employer-supported volunteering and Corporate Social Responsibility/Social Value commitments/targets.

Smaller groups (up to 4) can usually join in on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday - Thursdays are our preferred day to welcome corporate teams. Some Mondays can also be offered in the Sanderstead to Whyteleafe Countryside Area. Fridays can sometimes be offered seasonally as bespoke sessions for larger groups only, mainly held at our Merstham site. Bespoke sessions can also be offered seasonally (summer/autumn) by special arrangement at our Downlands Partnership Grazing holding farm near Banstead. Larger group and bespoke needs must be fully discussed in advance with the team, to agree most suitable task/location/day of the week etc to suit both parties.
