Are you a people person with a good sense of humour and a knack for great conversation? We’re looking for friendly, fun-loving male volunteers to join Miriam Grace Day Club, a welcoming space for people living with memory care needs.

We’ve got a fantastic group of gentlemen who love to reminisce about the sports they played, the jobs they had, and the adventures they’ve lived, and we’d love someone who can chat with them about “guy stuff”, share a laugh, and help spark those great memories.

As a Volunteer Activities Assistant, you’ll be helping run fun activities, games and workshops, encouraging everyone to join in and enjoy the day. You don’t need experience, just a friendly face, a bit of character, and a genuine interest in people.

Whether you’re setting up a quiz, talking football, or simply sharing a brew and a good story, you’ll be making a real difference, bringing joy, laughter and connection to our members’ days.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you join us!

What skills do I need?

  • A friendly, outgoing personality with a good sense of humour
  • Confidence in chatting and connecting with others — especially our male members who love to reminisce about sports, work, and life experiences
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting people living with memory care needs
  • Reliability and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Willingness to get involved in a variety of activities — from games and crafts to conversation and day trips
  • Ability to work as part of a supportive team and follow guidance from staff
  • Experience of volunteering or working with older people or those with dementia
  • Knowledge or interest in sports, local history, or hands-on hobbies (great talking points!)
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality (training can be provided).
