Volunteer Driver

As a volunteer driver, you will provide transport for local people in need (usually older people) to places such as hospitals, surgeries, dentists, opticians, care homes (to see a loved one), to the supermarket or to a social activity (such as a day care centre or exercise class).

You can choose the volunteer jobs that you would like to do – no regular commitment is required.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport clients to and from their destination, on time
• Provide a friendly chat along the way
• Ensure that all passengers are wearing their seatbelt
• Report any wellbeing, health or safety concerns regarding a passenger to the scheme

What skills do I need?

Requirements

• A current, valid driver’s license
• Satisfactory DBS check (organised and funded by the scheme)
• Good verbal communication skills and a friendly, helpful manner
