Cruse’s key resource is its volunteers. None of what Cruse achieves would be possible without the passion, dedication and skills of our volunteers.

We’re looking for empathetic individuals with good listening skills to join our telephone referral team in our Epsom, Ewell and Mole Valley branch.

Role description - What will I be doing? 

  • Supporting the local branch as part of a team working on a 2 week Rota, working 2 weeks out of 8  Picking up messages left on the branches answering machine and following up on these messages by giving help and advice to clients
  • Performing a client assessment using the Cruse guidelines provided to establish the type of support required. (Full Cruse training to be provided) -
  • Using our online database system to record this information for the waiting list
  • The volunteer will have a supervisor to guide/train/advise.




What skills do I need?

  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Personal and friendly manner 
  • A good level of computer literacy or the willingness to learn 
  • Access to a computer/laptop 
  • Access to a quiet space with no interruptions
  • Helpful to have some local knowledge of the Epsom, Ewell and Mole Valley areas
