For many people, losing their hair as a result of treatment for cancer can be the most distressing side effect. HeadWrappers is a free service providing practical support for adults experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment.

Hair loss advisors show clients how to make the most of hats, scarves and hair pieces as an alternative to wearing a wig. Clients are also given tips on looking after their hair and scalp before, during and after treatment.

HeadWrappers currently delivered online to anyone who is in need.  We do individual and group sessions throughout the country.  We are currently looking for knitters to help provide:

  • Knitted two headed dolls which are given out free of charge to Mothers and Grandmothers who would like assistance to explain hair loss to a young child. The doll is topsy turvey - one head has hair and the other has a bald head and wears a headband.
  • A wide knitted headband which is sent out in the scarf package to the client.  This headband can be worn if the hair is just thinning, or can be worn over a base cap to keep out the winter chill.

Patterns, wool and stuffing can be provided. Postage /collection can be arranged.
