Learning Space is a charity working in Surrey which supports the emotional well-being and mental health of children and young people aged 5-18 who are experiencing challenges such as anxiety, isolation or bullying. We also provide support to their families and other professionals associated with their care or education.

Ready to be a local hero for young people's mental health?

This is a pivotal moment for Learning Space. As the need for mental health support for children and young people in Surrey grows, we are expanding our services to meet that demand. We have a powerful mission and a wonderful, dedicated team, but we can't do it alone. To fuel our growth, we need a passionate and proactive champion to connect us with the heart of our community.

We are looking for a Community & Corporate Fundraising Champion to support our Community and Corporate Fundraiser and extend the reach of Learning Space within the Surrey community. This isn't just about raising money; it is about building powerful and lasting relationships, sharing inspiring stories, and creating a network of support that will change young lives for the better.

As our Fundraising Champion, you will:

  • Be a Relationship Builder: You will be at the forefront of our mission, identifying and connecting with local businesses, schools, golf clubs, and community groups such as Rotary Clubs. You will inspire them to join us as "Charity of the Year" partners, event sponsors, and long-term supporters.
  • Bring Our Mission to Life: Represent Learning Space at community fairs, fetes, and networking events. You will help plan and promote our own fundraising activities and energise supporters to take on challenges in our name.
  • Nurture Our Network: You will be the go-to person for our amazing third-party fundraisers, offering them encouragement, support, thanks and the materials they need to succeed.
  • Shape Our Story: Craft compelling emails and communications that don't just ask for help but clearly show the life-changing impact of our work.
  • Keep Our Engine Running: Meticulously maintain our fundraising database, ensuring every connection and contribution is valued and tracked.
  • Update our CRM: Keep up to date information of our supporters on our contact list/ spreadsheet (training on Excel spreadsheets / Donorfy provided) and in our computer storage (training provided on Microsoft Sharepoint).

How we like to work:

  • To work collaboratively with others
  • Flexible working hours
  • To work in line with the Learning Space values

What we offer you:

  • The opportunity to be a key player in a growing charity at an exciting time.
  • Valuable experience in fundraising, stakeholder management, and community engagement.
  • A flexible role that works around your schedule (minimum 6 hours per week).
  • The immense satisfaction of knowing your work is directly helping local children and young people thrive.

What skills do I need?

Skills and qualities needed:

  • Well organised and able to take responsibility for tasks following a brief and with support from the LS Corporate and Community fundraiser
  • The ability to keep our Social Media and Marketing volunteer updated and informed of upcoming events and our fundraising activities
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing, and orally, while always valuing our supporters
  • Accurate attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic 'can do' attitude
  • Team player - able to work well with staff, volunteers etc
  • Willing to learn about fundraising
  • To maintain confidentiality and discretion

We would love to hear from you if you are:

  • A natural "people person" and networker who thrives on building connections and starting conversations.
  • A self-starter who is happy to make phone calls and comfortable walking into local businesses to ask for support
  • A passionate and persuasive communicator, able to share our story with warmth and conviction.
  • Brilliantly organised, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive, "can-do" spirit.
  • A true team player, excited to learn about fundraising and make a tangible impact as part of a lovely, supportive team.

Desirable Experience:

Ideally 2-3 years in Fundraising/ Business Development/Sales/Customer Service/Account or Project Management.
