Africa Community in Surrey & Sussex (ACISS) is dedicated to educating, informing, connecting, and equipping African immigrants and people of African descent in Surrey and Sussex with the people and resources they need to foster a thriving community.

We believe that by fostering a sense of belonging and community, we can break down cultural divides and promote a harmonious and prosperous society for all.

We are looking for a Fundraising Volunteer Officer to help ACISS secure the resources needed to deliver and expand our services in Surrey & Sussex. Working closely with the Organisational Lead and Admin Consultant, you can help support the development of fundraising initiatives, build relationships with donors, and help identify and apply for grants.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in developing and implementing fundraising plans.
  • Research new funding opportunities including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Support in writing and submitting grant applications to charitable trusts, foundations, and public bodies.
  • Help prepare reports and updates for funders on project progress and outcomes.
  • Help plan and deliver community fundraising events.
  • Seek local business sponsorships and donations in kind.
  • Help maintain positive relationships with supporters, donors, and partners.
  • Assist with communications to acknowledge and thank funders.
  • Support the promotion of fundraising campaigns through social media, newsletters, and community networks.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence in approaching individuals, businesses, or organisations for support.
  • Ability to volunteer as part of a team.
  • Experience in fundraising, bid writing, or event coordination.
  • Knowledge of local community networks, businesses, and potential supporters.
  • Some understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the voluntary sector.

Availability Details

Thursday’s – ideally 4 hours per week, we can agree a schedule that suits you and depending on activity levels within the organisation. With occasional attendance at fundraising events.
