ACISS is dedicated to educating, informing, connecting, and equipping African immigrants and people of African descent in Surrey and Sussex with the people and resources they need to foster a thriving community.  We believe that by fostering a sense of belonging and community, we can break down cultural divides and promote a harmonious and prosperous society for all.

We are looking for an Admin Assistant to provide essential administrative support that helps our organisation run smoothly, enabling us to deliver vital services, activities, and advocacy for African communities across Surrey and Sussex.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day administrative tasks, including responding to email and phone enquiries
  • Assist with organising community events, workshops, and meetings (e.g. booking venues, preparing materials,)

Support communication activities, such as:

  • Updating social media or website information
  • Distributing newsletters and promotional materials
  • Contribute to filing and archiving systems (digital and paper-based)
  • Carry out other reasonable administrative tasks as agreed  

What skills do I need?

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, email, online forms)
  • Organised and methodical approach to tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Respect for confidentiality and safeguarding practices
  • Previous experience in administration or volunteering
  • Ideally have familiarity with the needs of African and ethnic minority communities
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
