As Honorary Treasurer, you will play a vital part in helping the Society run smoothly and sustainably. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a simple Microsoft Excel record of income and expenditure, providing a brief monthly update to the Chairman on the Society’s finances, and preparing an annual Treasurer’s Report for review by the Independent Examiner.

You will have online access to the Society’s bank account to help you keep track of transactions. Cash and cheque income will be managed and paid in by the Membership Secretary, who will keep you informed.

Most regular payments are set up by Direct Debit, making them straightforward to monitor. From time to time, you may assist with overseeing occasional payments (such as printing, website costs, or guest speakers), which are handled via cheque or online banking by the Officers.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your skills, gain experience, and support the ongoing success of the Society as part of a friendly and collaborative team.

What skills do I need?

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable using Microsoft Excel to keep simple financial records and organise information clearly. A basic understanding of tracking income and expenditure, along with an ability to prepare a straightforward end-of-year financial summary, would be helpful.

Attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to work as part of a supportive team are just as important as technical skills. If you have some previous experience with spreadsheets and an interest in helping a local organisation manage its finances, we’d love to hear from you.

Availability Details

This is a flexible role that can easily fit around your availability. While the Society meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Addlestone Community Centre, there is no expectation for you to attend in person. Attendance at Committee meetings is not essential, although we would ideally like the Treasurer to attend at least some. They are not frequent. All aspects of the role can be carried out remotely, allowing you to contribute in a way that suits your schedule and commitments.
