Epsom and Ewell's Climate Action Network Project for A Library Of Things (CSVA)
About the Library of Things
The Library of Things (LoT) is a community-led initiative that allows people to borrow useful items instead of buying them—helping to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and make everyday life more affordable. The project is run entirely by volunteers and relies on community support.
We are looking for a Library Coordinator (Volunteer Manager) to oversee the running of the Library of Things, support volunteers, and ensure the smooth operation of the service. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful community project, develop leadership skills, and make a real difference.
Role Overview
As Library Coordinator, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day running of the Library of Things, ensuring it is well-organised, welcoming, and accessible. You will work closely with a team of volunteers, helping to coordinate tasks, support new recruits, and maintain smooth operations.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys organising, working with people, and making a tangible impact in their local community.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the daily operations of the Library of Things, ensuring everything runs efficiently.
· Support and coordinate volunteers, ensuring shifts are covered and everyone feels confident in their role.
· Act as a key point of contact for volunteers, borrowers, and the community.
· Ensure smooth administration, including tracking borrowed items and handling general enquiries.
· Work with other volunteers to maintain stock levels, repairs, and finances.
· Promote a welcoming and inclusive space for all library users and volunteers.
· Communicate with the Trustees, providing updates on operations and any challenges.
Skills & Experience (Desirable but Not Essential)
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, and no formal qualifications are required. However, the following skills would be helpful:
· Experience in coordinating teams or volunteers (formal or informal).
· Strong organisational and communication skills.
· A passion for community-led projects and sustainability.
· Ability to work independently and problem-solve when needed.
If you’re enthusiastic, friendly, and enjoy working with people, we’d love to hear from you.
What’s in it for You?
· Be part of an exciting and impactful community project.
· Gain valuable leadership and coordination experience.
· Meet like-minded people and make a real difference in your local area.
· Support a sustainable and cost-saving initiative that benefits the community.
