Photographer Volunteer (18-25 yrs)

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a volunteer photographer, aged 18-25, to help document the East Surrey Volunteer Fair on Saturday 26th September.

You’ll capture a range of high quality images across the day, including event set-up, stallholders in the volunteering marketplace, and any interactive sessions taking place.

You’ll also edit the best images for use across social media, e-newsletters, print materials, and the VASE website. Your photos will help bring the event to life, capturing the best moments of the day and show the impact of volunteering to those who couldn’t attend.

This is a great role for students building a portfolio. You can use a smartphone or camera – just let us know what kit you’ll bring.

You will be volunteering alongside a professional photographer who can help with questions on the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Photographing event set-up inside the Belfry
• Capture images of stallholders and activities
• Select and edit photos and share them with the VASE team by an agreed deadline

Time Commitment

Total: approximately 10 hours

Pre-production: One 30 minute briefing meeting with the VASE team (time/date to be agreed).

On the day: You can either attend 9am – 3pm, or agree a shift: set up (9am – 12pm) or main event (12pm – 3pm).

Post-production: Select and edit the best photos and share them with the VASE team for marketing use.

Additional Information

• We ask for two references (character or academic references are fine).
• A volunteer induction and briefing pack will be shared ahead of the event.
• Photography will follow event guidance to ensure people are comfortable being photographed. 

What skills do I need?

Skills and Experience

• General photography experience (event photography desirable)
• Comfortable using photo editing software
• Confident to work independently in a busy environment
• Good time management and reliability
• Happy to get stuck in and be creative
