Dorking Good Neighbours (CSVA)
Dorking Good Neighbours include a number of drivers who take, mainly elderly local residents who have difficulty getting to their medical appointments. The drivers are coordinated by a group of Duty Transport Organisers,
We are looking to increase the number of Duty Transport Organisers we have.
Working from their homes, the Duty Trnasport Organisers take it in turns to have an 'Office in a bag', taking residents calls, on our mobile phones (about 5-6 a day on average) and then arranging for a driver to take them to theit appointment.
The mobile phone can be left on voicemail when it is inconvenient to take calls, so you do not need to be available the whole time during your week, provided you call passengers back with 24 hours. You use the mobile phone to make calls, so no costs are incurred.
This is a worthwhile and appreciated volunteer role and makes an otherwise difficult journey much easier for our residents.
A patient and considerate telephone manner and some knowledge of the Dorking area.
Ability to record and give accurate information i.e: addresses, telephone numbers etc
