UCE Charity Bookstall Social Media volunteer

Are you social media savvy and looking to make a difference in your local community?

The UCE Charity Bookstall operates from the United Church of Egham once a month (except for December, January and August)). We raise funds for local charities in Runnymede and Spelthorne by selling second-hand books, music and DVDs etc.

We are looking for a volunteer to support us with promoting the Charity Bookstall on Facebook and Instagram, working from a rolling content calendar.  Activities include creating a Facebook event at the beginning of the month the sale takes place, creating posts to advertise our charity partner for the month, posting “one day to go” reminders, requests for new volunteers, as well as book or author related posts of interest to our followers. The social media volunteer should also build strong social media connections with our charity partners and come up with ideas to grow our follower base.

Time Commitment:

·        A few hours a month

What You'll Do:

·        Liaise with the Charity Bookstall Coordination Team on key dates and content ideas

·        Update the rolling content calendar (currently in Google Sheets, but this could be moved to another platform if required)

·        Plan and schedule Facebook and Instagram posts

·        Create eye-catching posts

·        Provide reports on follower numbers, likes and shares and adjust the social media activity accordingly to drive up engagement

What skills do I need?

Skills Required:

·        Experience of using Meta Business Suite and Canva or similar design software, or willingness to learn

·        Reliable and self-motivated

·        Creative

·        Active on social media in a personal capacity
