Community Wisdom CIC
Community Wisdom CIC is a Surrey-based non-profit promoting healthy ageing. We believe social wellbeing and healthy eating play vital roles in preventing cognitive and physical decline while reducing isolation. We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Driver to support our "Food for Health" project.
This role requires using your own vehicle to collect surplus food from local supermarkets and deliver it to our hub. Our volunteers generously donate their time and vehicle running costs to make this project possible. It is an incredibly rewarding role, and our current team loves seeing the immediate, practical impact their journeys have on reducing loneliness and supporting the Staines community.
Key Responsibilities
• When: Every Tuesday morning, between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
• The Task: Collect surplus food donations from designated local supermarkets.
• The Delivery: Safely transport and unload the food at our premises: Staines Baptist Church (TW18 4UW), ready for community distribution.
• Driving Credentials: Full, valid driving licence and access to your own reliable, insured vehicle.
• Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift, load, and unload crates of food.
• Reliability: Adhere to the specific pickup time slot at the supermarket (8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.).
• Interpersonal Skills: A friendly, respectful manner when interacting with supermarket staff, other volunteers and visitors.
